May 2022 started as a paper making experiment. I collected and recycled my notes, feelings, letters and texts I found interesting in the month of May 2022. The resulting artist book that consists of loose papers stacked on top of each other records the process of papermaking. By continuing to make paper until there was only fragments left, the tracts of some of the first notes I added can still be seen on the last page of the book. the process of destroying everything that I meticulously collected and stored chronologically gave me a new understanding of not only the paper we use in our every-day activities but also their value.
I experimented with cutting out an image of an animal skeleton and the photographs were mysterious and almost reminded me of an archeological site. The paper skeleton almost looks like it came up for air!
